Getting Into Streaming: How To Make It On Twitch

If you’ve spent any time engrossed within the Twitch streaming community you will have heard of Kai Cenat. He is one of the most popular streamers on the planet. He is slowly building up a streaming media empire that highlights just how popular streaming platforms like Twitch have become. And perhaps his boldest move was opening up the Streamer University this year.

Streamer University is a four-day intensive bootcamp focused around educating hopeful streamers in everything related to content creation. Run by Kai Cenat and featuring a range of popular content creators all giving talks on the various aspects of succeeding within the industry. Many diehard Kai Cenat fans enrolled as soon as possible. But a vast majority of people seem to think this is little more than another marketing stunt designed to boost Kai’s popularity.

And in some ways we have to agree. While the premise behind the Streamer University is nice, it is fundamentally flawed. All of the ideas and tactics attendees will be taught can be learnt from the comfort of their home. And this guide we have constructed aims to give you some of the hot tips that you would learn from Streamer University. But without the hassle of getting accepted first!

Multiple Marketing Channels

If you’re looking to make streaming into your full-time career then you need to approach it with the same mindset you would approach running your own business. And that means you need to be marketing yourself effectively and as often as possible. And the first step in doing that is setting yourself up on multiple marketing channels.

Social media is the best way to go about this. X, Instagram, Reddit, TikTok. You should maintain an active presence on as many social media platforms as possible. TikTok is ideal for posting clips of your streams to entice new viewers in. Try to share clips of exciting moments or times when you were engaging with your audience. This is more likely to draw people in.

Instagram is great for giving behind the scenes looks at your stream and promoting your schedule and any special events. It’s also a good place to give people a better insight into who you are as a person. Reddit is where you can market to more serious gamers and also build an active community around your content.

Buying likes and upvotes is a solid idea too. This will help get all your accounts off to a good start. But you need to be careful who you buy likes and upvotes from. When you find a seller, make sure that they only use real and aged accounts as this will help bring in a more consistent stream of natural likes and upvotes down the road.

Consistency Is Key

One of the main reasons a lot of new streamers never make it big is because they aren’t consistent with their streaming schedule. The easiest path to success is building up a large fanbase of dedicated viewers. And to do that you need to be streaming on a set schedule. This will ensure that your older viewers can always tune in.

Now there is a degree of flexibility to be had within your streaming schedule. But overall you should aim for at least two to three streaming sessions that are on the same day and time every week. You should also maintain a consistent upload schedule on your various social media platforms. Ideally you want to post a clip or two on TikTok every day. Maybe three or four Instagram posts a week. It’s best to avoid spamming Reddit too much. Maybe one or two posts a week.

Audience Interaction

Many new streamers seem to think their gaming skills are going to be enough to propel them to success. And if you think this too let me very quickly dissuade you of that delusion. If your gaming skills were as incredible as that you would either already be a professional gamer or be part of an active speedrunning community.

The vast majority of your audience isn’t going to be watching you for your gaming skills. They want to see your personality. Hear your opinions. And interact with you and the rest of the audience through the chat. So you need to make this your primary focus. Avoid getting too bogged down in gaming and interact with the chat as much as possible. Maybe run multiplayer gaming sessions where members of your community can join in. This is a great way to keep a consistent viewer base.
